7/23/2009 AES Forum 2010 Call for Contributions

SESSION ON MARINE AQUACULTURE SYSTEMS, AES FORUM, ROANOKE 18 – 19 AUGUST 2010

AES will arrange a full day session at the Forum focusing on marine aquaculture as a follow-up of the upcoming session at Aquaculture America in San Diego, March 2010: Progress in marine RAS. The announcement of the session in San Diego has indicated substantial interest and ongoing R&D activity within this field in different parts of the world.

The ongoing intensification of the marine aquaculture sector has lead to development of water reuse systems (RAS) and presentations of such systems will be the main focus at the Forum. However, emphasize of RAS does not exclude contributions describing flow-through or partial flow-through landbased systems. We welcome title proposals comprising system design, operation and performance, and performance and welfare of the cultured animals. Proposals may span systems for production of fish or shellfish, warmwater or coldwater species, fry or adults. Extended versions of the presentations held in San Diego are potential papers both in the Proceedings from the Forum and as submitted manuscripts to the AES journal, Aquacultural Engineering.

Each presentation should last for 30 minutes, enabling 5 – 10 minutes for questions.

Please, submit a preliminary title in near future.

We look forward to receiving your proposed title for the Forum!

Session’s lead person and 2nd Vice President AES

30.04.2007 2008 AES ISSUES FORUM to be held in Roanoke, VA

The AES Board of Directors (BOD) has accepted a proposal from George Flick and Greg Boardman to host AES forums at the time of the International Conference on Recirculating Aquaculture (ICRA) in 2008 and 2010. George is a University Distinguished Professor of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech, and Greg is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. Both George and Greg have worked on ICRA since its inception in 1996. It is now envisioned that AES would offer a day-long Conference the day before ICRA begins. The AES Issues Forum can then lead to AES sessions offered as a part of ICRA. However, AES can offer more than a day of presentations or some other activity as a part of the forum (tour, hands-on exercise, etc.) preceding ICRA. In 2008, ICRA will be offered at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center (HRCC) on July 25-27. Proposals for prospective AES forums should be sent to Greg Boardman (gboard@vt.edu) and Steve Hall (SGHall@agcenter.lsu.edu). Your proposal will then be considered by the AES BOD. If you have any questions pertaining to ICRA or the HRCC, please feel free to contact George Flick (flickg@vt.edu; 540-231-6965) or Greg Boardman (540-231-1376).
